Flooring to Fit Your Lifestyle | Gresham, Or
Finding the right flooring can make your life easier and your home more inviting.
We've all been there. Your dream home is perfect! Except for the carpeting in the bathroom. Maybe you have cracking, dated linoleum in the kitchen. Have the hardwoods in the living room seen better days... much better days?
If your flooring looks battered, it could be it's the wrong floor for the type of traffic that part of your house encounters. You don't want white shag carpet in your mudroom, do you?
On the subject of hardwoods, if you love the look but worry about damage from pets, did you know there's now tile designed to look just like hardwood? This type of floor is great for resisting scratches.
If you're klutzy- you know who you are... you might want to forgo tile, it will crack if you drop something hard enough and heavy enough. Maybe bamboo is a better option. There's a lot of factors that play into an individual bamboo flooring products durability. From when the bamboo was harvested, to what type and how much adhesive is used in the floorings manufacture.
Maybe stone appeals to you. Solid, permanent, like a rock... If so, there's a couple things to think about when you're thinking about getting stone floors. Many types of stone are porous and require some type of sealant before being used in flooring applications. Also, sedimentary stone tends to wear faster than other types. Last, but not least- is the flooring you're considering designed for inside or outside use? There's a difference and it's something you need to know before you start your project.
Carpet just seems made for bare feet. Nothing's quite as nice as waking up, swinging your legs out of bed and putting your feet onto a soft, warm, cushioned floor. Today's carpets are far more environmentally friendly than those made in years previous, in fact, you can now carpet your home with recycled plastic bottles!
